I have the opportunity to get a mutec FMC 01 Flashrom for little money, originally made for use with s2000 series samplers, which should be exactly the same as the akai fxm008 flashboard, which is also used
by mpc2000 and s2000 series... do these flashroms definitely work with the mpc2000xl or might there be problems, how easy is it to install this flashrom myself?

no, you cannot use this flashroom. It is a board which has the size for 8 MB (4 X 2MB) and 16 MB (8 X 2mb). so the 8MB bord is built with 4 empty sockets. the installing postion is down in the left of the cage and this board is to large. there are some photos in the internet. serach for both boards and you will see the difference in the size. somebody tells me that it fit in a mpc2000.
