need some help hookin up mpc 2kxl to vs-880

can anybody help me with hookin up aroland vs=880 to mpc 2kxl thru the midi outputs, i need help with the system functions settings,i have it hooked up with the vs out to the mpc in but i can't figure out the system settings any help would be appreicated... thanks

i assume yo want to record your finished mpc tracks on the roland.
Connect the audio outputs from the mpc to the roland's inputs.
Run the midi-out of the roland, to midi-in 1 on the MPC.
Go to the sync/tempo screen on your roland and set it like this:
Sync/Tempo:
-Syn:Source=INT
-Syn:Gen.=MTC
-Syn:MTC Type=same settings as on your MPC/ Synchronisation/ Sync Sources/ Frame Rate.

On the mpc, go to the sync-screen (shift-9) and set it to recieve MTC on midi-in 1. Set up the same framerate and stuff as yo've set you're roland to.

thanks ,that worked . how do i get the roland to not record right away.when i press reord it starts to mpc and record right away how do i get it to delay so i have time to set up, anyways thanks this site is still the sh*t thanks yo.

put extra bars at the begining of your sequence or song on the mpc. you usually want at least 2 empty bars just for the sync to get nice and solid.

in the vs 880 you can specify an timing-offset.
Another method to work is:
set timing offset to 5 seconds.
connect the midi out of the mpc to the roland midi in.
Record the midiclock from the mpc to the roland, it´s called synctrack recording. then after recording the sync ( should be as long as the song will last ) connect it vice versa, the mpc will follow the vs880 really tight.
the 3rd way is as following( there should be no tempochanges in the song or crescendo or something:-) )just make use of the tempolist in roland vs,
as it is stated in the manual. There are a lot of ways to sync up both machines, and it is pretty well explained in the roland manual...
reading the manual carefully would help you to understand the whole world of midi-syncing. Another really hard task is to record the vs 880 to computer with the aim to preserve sample-accuracy...I may write about that issue later.

I think what you want to know is how to work with the MPC recording your beat without the VS880 recording while you compile your beat.

Easy, just disable sync on the MPC until you need it.
