How good is the effects card for the MPC

Ok, I really want to tweak out my drum sounds on my 2000xl. But I am not sure if I should buy the effects card, EB16. My question is: For the people who actually have one, how much do you really use it, and also, can you tweak the sounds in real time. That is, can you have your beat playing while you mess with the chorus of a certain sound to experiment. Thanks to anyone with help.

I bought my mpc equipped with it but i hardly if ever use the effects card. I mainly add effects to my final mix-down in my multi-track recorder (dps 12). on the mpc i use the programs-params screen alot. yes u could use the effects in real time and add echo, reverb, and shyt like that.
it has some pretty dope effects, but unless you have the patience and the good ear for it i would advise leaving the efx part to the pro's in the studio (you might phuck around and take a shyt on ur sequence). but if u must have it i would say go for it if the price is right. also, I could sell u my effects card for like 230 (100 off original price).

Is cool...I use it to give a lot of my samples texture and really add some depth to them...It does take a minute to play with and figure out, but if you got a beat to listen to while you're doin it...then you wont mind. You can record the FX in real time but you can tweak them and hear it while you are playing in real time. It uses FX in terms of applying them, like the mixer...and that you can record in real time.

So as far as how much effect to the overall track, that can be done in real time...just like you move the volume for each track up and down, but i dont do that much w/ FX. I just assign the effect I want and roll with it. It is kinda limited cause you can only use 4 different effects total. I also think its a lil over priced so if you can find a used one (like the one above) I would get that.

It's worth the money - basically you get 4 effect units, all your effect settings get saved with your APS and there's no need for any cables and extra power supplies.

Is worth getting some kind of effects...I have the EB16 but only cause I had it on my s2000. Essentially what you want to do is add a bit of reverb on your drums, mostly on your snare, then add distortion to your whole drum kit to give it some punch but just a little then add little bits of reverb to your whole mix just a little, and add some dist, phlange, phaser to your bass and lead. But I originally just ran the outs on my s2000 through a guitar ds1 (dist) and cause I only had 2 outs thats all I needed to phaten up my drums and bass.

But that said the EB16 is only a 10bit efx unit and at the price you could probably get a better one which was and 4 channel external unit, plus you wouldn't be limited by the patch options.

The Digitec Studio Quad is one such unit ( I want' one) and its parameters are contollable via midi, its very versitle.
