Software Synth.

Hi, can I connect my software synth...to my MPC trough MIDI?

I know that if you got a hardware synth and connect it with your MPC..the MPC plays the sounds wich are in the synth.

Is this also possible with a soft synth??

and Can I use fruityloops..with my MPC...just play the vst instruments on my pc with my MPC...so I have a sound under my pad?

i use my mpc to control dr rex players and redrum in reason. so yes you can. you plug the midi out from the mpc to the midi in on your computer. you will have to set fruityloop up to receive midi and the mpc to midi 1a (or whatever channel you set fl up for). from there you should be able to route a midi channel to the vsti. you can in cubase SX (what I use) and it works fine. it is probably just a matter of setting the vsti to the same midi channel that the mpc is set to. 1 for example.

yo brainwashcloth, wat do u use to control the other stuff in Reason besides Redrum and Dr Rex? Do u use another keyboard midi controller, or do u just use the computer?

i have a fatar 37 key midi controller and a midiman/m-audio radium 49 midi controller.
the radium is hot!
it has 8 assignable knobs and 8 assignable sliders. plus 49 keys and pitchbend and mod wheel. hot.

no doubt. i was looking into the same setup, but was considering the 61-Key Radium? Whats the difference in the keys? What are the keys good for? Does me having 61-keys put me at an advantage over having the 49-key? I was looking into the 61 key version b/c i thought the higher # meant it was better or something? Can someone clear this up? the difference is $20 cash money out of your pocket.

they are exactly the same except the 49 has well 49 keys (strangely) and the 61 has, yep, you guessed it 61. thats a 1 octave difference. so 12 more keys. i opted for the 49 even though i was blown away when the GC salesperson told me the 61 was only 20 bucks more because I am already way cramped for deskspace. the 49 fits perfect next to my mpc on my desk, the 61 wouldnt have fit right and I had just bought a new desk to have both keys and the mpc right in front of me. i hated having keys just out of reach and off to the side so. the 49. both have octave +/- button so at the flick of a switch you can extend their range anyways.

i highly recommend getting one if you do anything on the software side. i can control levels and pan on 8 channels in SX, i can control all kinds of ish in reason and on vsti's. but for reals they are the exact same product just one has a bigger key range. and they are both hot.
