mpc2000 help needed please.

I hope i can explain this well enough for ppl.

okay,
i know that the mpc plays whatevers on the pads, but i need to know how to make a sample, like say an 8 second vocal loop play when i hit the pad but stop when i let it go without having to chop 1 sample into many. In other words, how do i make my samples sustain and not just play straight out, overlapping each other?
If this wasnt clear enough, please say so and i'll try to explain it better.

1. Read the manual
2. Read this and be a lazy git
3. Go to program, and select the pad u want, then change from MONO to NOTE OFF ....this will do what u asked.

4. another way is having another pad mute that pad u want muted. for this read the manual. If you u dont have one www.akaipro.com has a copy waiting for u.

The manual i have is wack and most of the stuff in it doesnt apply to what i do. On the other hand, arent the notes already off on the pads anyways?

your question contradicts itself, you want the sample to stop when you let go of the pad but you also say you want it to sustain, well which is it? Do you want to have to hold thr pad down or do you want it to sustain and cut itself off when you hit the pad again? Either way................

pg. 126 in the manual(the 2kxl manual anyway)

program>params>voice overlap>set it to note off if you want the sample play til you let go of the pad or set it to mono if you want the sample to play when hit but not overlap when hit again

I dont think cats is being negative, penfold gave a good explainatition. It just i dont think cats really try, they want people to hold their hand threw ish.

Personally, there are alot of people who use this forum that need a checkin. I may be a rookie to all this but i know ignorance when i see it. I think instead of critizing people, try actually helping people.

How does it not apply? its an mpc manual isnt it? If you read it youll learn something that will help you, if not help you now, but later down the road.

The biggest mistake is to not read the manual, even if its boring, and dry, its still usefull. Ive read mine probably 2 times (im not talking about browsing or looking up answers) and this was because i just wanted to be as knowledgeable as possible.

I know some people sound arrogant, but your question sounded like this: "dude, whats the phone number to walmart?"(and the phone books right next to you)

I think you gotta give everyone the benefit of the doubt, as undun was Most Likely asking an honest question; but dudes get lazy-and its difficult to determine if someone is being an ass. You cant jump off and accuse people........either way.

Everyone who answered you was a more experienced user......they arent telling you to read the manual for thier health....is it blunt? yes, but its good advice.

Yes, this forum is to help people, but there are some basic requirements! atleast try to read the manual, youll save yourself time and everyone elses. Now, if you still dont understand..........thats fine. I guarentee you that most people here will try to help you, they are not being arrogant;

you gotta realize that this is the internet, you cant interpet emotion. So to others, your question sounds newb ish.........to you, we sound like dick know it alls. The best thing to do is be good spirited, and honest. Even if someone responds negatively to a post, chances are they just misintereped your words. Give people the benefit of the doubt, if you pass on your patience, even to some who is rude, they will correct themselves without you needing to even mention it. For all we know you could be a genius who just didnt know the answer to yoru particular question..........but that doesnt matter, all we know about you is what we can grab from the words in your post. Its just the nature of the internet.
