I have heard of this concept plenty of times but i was just inspired by a GZA lyric to post this.....A fellow producer in my local area began explaining to me the importance of drum splitting and what an impact it had on his sound but he got way too technical and he lost me.....I retrieve a lot of my drums from my BOSS DR770 and a lot of the sounds on there sound a little too drum machiney and i was told that "drum splitting" would solve that....would someone please school me on this in MPC2000XL terms?
What the **** do mean drum splitting? You mean chopping drum breaks?
If you got a XL:
Sample a drum break, go into the zone screen and chop it into multiple parts. Kicks, snares, hats etc. seperate. Or maybe if you want to cut it into larger parts try that too.
