mac os 9/mpc 2000xl/zip formatting question

I've downloaded mpcpgmmaker and of course I'm very impressed. My only problem is that my Mac will not read mpc-formatted zips in os 9 -- even when formatted without partitions. I have a dual boot powermac G4, and it reads the disc just fine in os 10 . . . it's just that I want to run the program in os 9. Does anyone have any idea as to what might be the problem? Any help is much appreciated.

Problem solved. Turns out I had File Exchange disabled in the OS 9 Control Panel.
