MPC's format a Zip as a Mac disk...?!

I just bought a zip 100 disk, and formatted it in my zip 100 drive for the first time using my MPC 2000xl.

then i went to a pc, and it wouldnt read my Zip disc. even if i formatted it or tried a different computer, it knew a disc was in there, but when i tried to put files on it it said "please insert a disc".

then i tried it on a mac...worked perfectly!

does my MPC format zip discs as a mac disc? or was it an issue with a zip 250 in the PC and a zip 100 in the mac (i thought 100 were backwards compatible).

No. It is closer to PC format. DOS,Win9x.Me systems did not have a problem reading it. Microsloth broke Win2k/XP in regards to reading MPc disks. That is one of the reasons I switched to Linux. I can actually read/write to all MPC partitions at once in Linux.

any kind of shareware thing i can get to read my Zips on XP?

Don't format your zips on the mpc but format them on the computer. That way XP and the MPC can read 'em.

Thats what I do. Never format a disk on the MPC.

word? my mac is still on OS 9.

i thought for sure it wouldnt work in x. but yeah it works..better than before 9 cut us off from mpc zips.
mpcpgm maker just wasnt the same only using floppys

I guess that has to do with the fact that OSX is a unix/BSD clone and therefor sticks to more standard disk formats.
