MPC - Emac

Yo!

I need a software program for my macintosh (Emac) so that i can connect my MPC 2000XL to my mac and transfer my songs over (so that i then can mix them and cd-burn them)..

I thought I would use Sound Forge 8 but it only works with PC..

Ideas..?

the thing is I have Logic Express..

but I want to record my songs from the mpc to the Emac...and I need some kind of "recording program" for this right?

you can record audio in logic and in protools, but the thing is, you need an 'audio in' in your computer. i dont think an emac has this standard (i might be wrong), so you would need to get a audiointerface (USB or FireWire).

for my next question, what the heck is a audiointerface?

cant I just plug the mpc to the emac using the output for headphones?

you can not put extra chips in an emac so you need an USB or FireWire audiointerface. an audiointerface basicly gives you audio input's and output's for your computer. that way you can record your mpc in your computer. i would not take the headphone's out, but the stereo out (next to the headphones), or if you have the 8outs, you can track you instruments on diff channels of logic. the 8out chip of the mpc also has digital in/out, but i dont have expirience with those.

if you record through the macs mic-in plug your tracks are going to lose mad quality.if you even have one,im not too farmiliar with the emac..but the original imacs had them so i dont see why not

yup, its better to get an audiointerface. the old imac's have an audio in but the newer one's dont. i'm not certain that an emac has an audio in, but a good interface is way better.

my setup is now:

Logic Express on the Emac

and I have connected the mpc to the emac through the audio in on the emac (next to the headphones output)..

I cant seem to hear any lack of "mad quality"....will this work..?

got to your System Prefrences click on the sound panel then input and pick that external mic port or whatever its called
