Length of Beats on mpc 2000xl etc - help needed

Most songs are about 3-4 minutes long approx right? Well how do you determine how long your beats are when you make them on the mpc 2000xl, because when I make them, they play continiously and never end till i stop it.

Secondly- How do I produce a whole song with a - intro/verse/chorus etc

You're still playin the sequence.You have to go to song mode and construct it by adding the sequences.Hit shift and 1 and you'll see where you need to be.

Also with the flow of the song just go with what sounds good.Use seq 1 for the intro seq 2 for the verse seq 3 for the chorus and so on and so on.

Well songs can be as long as the artist makes them. If you got a artist who's verse is about 1:15 long that's about 16 bars on your MPC. Within the artist verse you can swing the beat in and out on either the kick or snare. Then change it up on the hook. An artist hook can run for about 4-8 bars.

After your done constructing your beat do as Stryke said and enter song mode to lay out the final beat. Practice it, no one can tell you really how to paste together your creation.

word up.... and a better song structure would be in bars, not time.... like you song might be 88 bars long (8 bar intro, 16 verse, 8 hook, 16 verse, 8 hook, 16 verse, 8 hook, 8 outro)...... that's a better way to look at it, instead of the song being 3-4 minutes.

Cypher,you're dead on with that.I forgot to mention it.Don't worry about the time.....Just go by bars.MMMMMUUUUUUUUCCCHHHHHHHHH easier.
