i got a bunch of old records that i want to sample from. So far i just got a shitty record player that has a RCA (red/white) cable that comes out of the unit. When i plug that into my MPC2000xl sample inputs and go into sample, then play the record, the volume of the record is REALLY loud. I'll turn the rec. gain knob to like one and the signal will still be really loud and close to peaking. should i not be pluging the record player straight into the MPC? Or is this problem just cause my record player is a bit old? How do all of you sample from records (what connects do you use)?
Also, one other question about samples....i hear a lot of songs with samples of just vocal hooks or single vocal lines. but there is no music behind the vocals (besides the new beat that the DJ made)....And i know i have heard the orignal recording of the sample and there is music behind it....how do some people get just the vocals and tune everything else out in the background? I've also heard people put Nas' and wu tang verses' over there orignal beats, how do they take the origanal music out behind Nas or Wu?
