ok so like i said the mpc is on the way. i already have some turntables, so here is my question. will i be able to make some full beats in the beginning even tho thats all i have? what i mean is, i dont have a zip drive yet, or sample cds, so until i get some of that stuff, will i be able to make beats using only the mpc and vinyl, with maybe some stuff from the computer?
thanks for any help

Hi frisko
The answer is yes with decks, a dj mixer, computer, the mpc and some cables you'll be well away, But save complex stuff with lots of sounds and big sequences will be a problem get a zip read the info on this site re that.

Here are some basic options

-Rig your deck to the mixer the into the computer audio inputs
-sample from vinyl in to the computer using a edit program (eg soundforge)
-Save to floppy and load em into the mpc and away you go.

-rig the output of mixer strainght into the 1/4" jack input on the mpc and sample straight into the mpc easy.

-Search the net for free .wav download to your computer and trasfer via floppy to the mpc. consider a bit of a cheat but good for a quick start.

Some things to bear in mind
-try to read the manual for mpc b4 starting things and keep it by your side while you try things ou it's reasonably easy to follow.

- Watchout for the sample rates and format if it wrong it will muck up your sounds refer to the manual for help.
-have fun and rember to stop sometimes and go and remind yourself what the outside world looks like ocassionally
