drum pattern problem

i have a 2000xl up graded with 32 megs ram. i just installed the ram a few weeks ago.

the problem is when i load my aps file, i have all 4 drums filled. now when i start to produce, some of my drums get copied to other spots. like i have drum 1 and drum 2. sometimes the drum 1 get copied to drum 2. im not sure if its a techincal problem, or if its something im doing or not doing.

also, i was seaching for this last night, but i want all my drum programs to load at start up, how do i do that?

when ever you make a new pgm it will put it in drum1 moving the others kits up. just go in there and re-assign them programs thees only 4 it cant be hard to remember which ones are which.

save the aps file and sounds in the root dir of the disk. this way they will load auto on start up

I ALWAYS put the number of DRUM after the name of my programs ie. "melody 1" so I know that it always goes in DRUM 1. When it gets moved because of other PGM's added I just put it back where to DRUM 1 cause I know it goes there.

I save APS, ALL, and all PGM's to the same folder with my samples.

1 song to 1 folder, all samples, your APS, ALL and all PGM's to that folder.

and always be sure to name your drums programs.. i lost alot of beats by being lazy and forgeting what kit went where..

when the drum pattern changes, it mid production. im not saving or loading, im in the middle of making a beat, and the drum switches.

if you need me to explain futher, let me know. but im sure its not an everyday problem cause i've worked on more then one mpc. so im starting to think that mine is starting to die on me.

I misunderstood then, sorry. On the main menu when you are producing, do you change the DRUM at anytime on the same track?

Do you go into shift 6 and start playing with the DRUM programs and maybe forget which one does where?

If it's happening automatically maybe try to reload the OS.
Maybe reseat the RAM or maybe a RAM stick(s) are bad.

that could be a possibility, i just installed 32 megs, thats when i started doing that...so i need new ram. geez...well, thanks for the help

Try running on 1 stick of ram at a time and see which one is the bad stick, yeah?
