Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I've got the chance to do some gigs around Europe this Summer but I need a bit of advice - I've only got the MPC shoulder bag thing rather than a flight case so I'm not about to check it in as part of my luggage. However, is putting my MPC and zip disks through an xray machine going to do either any harm?

Would be interested to hear of anyone else's experience of taking their MPC on a plane - for instance, any overzealous security thinking it is some kind of dangerous equipment or whatever.

Let me know

Cheers

I have had loads of things x-rayed in airports, including floppies and hard disks and never had any problems.

However, you should take two safety copies of all your disks, and keep the seperate somewhere safe. Also, allow extra time after the check-in as a lot of security people will want you to switch on the MPC and/or (happened to me in Germany) put it through some kind of scanner to check for traces of explosives. Apart from that you should be absolutely fine.

Also you should probably insure the MPC against damage and theft.

Did I say make two copies of your sounds? Make 3 and leave one at home so it can be sent to you if worst comes to worst........
