Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
ByMumbles Wed Jun 15, 2005 12:08 am
I posted this in the newbie forum, I think it was the wrong place.

Anyway, Im a little freaked out. I just got an MPC2000xl from an ebayer with really good feedback. As fate would have it, the things doesnt seem to work. Im wondering if someone might help me troubleshoot.

I get power...The problem as of now is, theres no sound coming thru the headphones when I try to sample from CD. Its on Analog input... Stereo mode.. and monitor is set at L/R. Rec and main volume are up, CD player volume is moderate. No sound. Tried different headphones. No sound. Ran the CD player through my Stanton DJ mixer and I hear sound through my monitors, so the problem isnt the CD player or the cables.

Is there anything else I can try, or am I screwed here?

PLEASE give me some good news. Thanks guys.

try running the sound out through the stereo outs and see if that works, maybe the headphone jack is busted.

Do you have the sample assigned to a pad?

hey i might have found the problem... while the CD player was still playing I took out the quarter inch cables and heard sound. The plugs have to sit halfway out of the socket in order for you to hear any sound. I still dont know what it is, maybe something loose inside?

anyone know?

i dropped my 2000 with the headphones still plugged in. and now it has the same problem yours has. only i can only hear out of one side of the headphones.

i have to leave mine halfway out to hear.

whoever you bought it from pulled a fast one on you.

Halfway out would be mono.

since it fell on the jack where the headphones were plugged in and it bent the jack itself, im assuming something inside is broken, loose or something else.

but i dont need the headphones. i just assign the 8 outs and run them through my mixer. or you can just use the stereo outs to some monitors.

Are you using 1/4" mono cables or 1/4" stereo cables?

any1 else ever jump up to get the phone or door and forget the headphones are still on. ive broke numerous audio devices and sets of headphones doing this.

i went to grab my daughter from breaking some of my records and didnt think that i had the headphones on. the mpc hit the floor and headphones whipped off my head.

end result --a fugged up jack. my headphones survived tho.
