i know i'm going to buy an MPC-2000XL to produce hip hop tracks...i'm just stuck on which version i should buy
i'm tryin to cut corners in order to still afford a cheap computer at the end of this summer, so here's a few things i require and already have...
1) i NEED the filter function that people use to create basslines, and i'm not sure if it's in the 1200 dollar version of the MPC (do i need that FX chip for this?)
2) I dont need an internal zip drive, since i know a cat who can "float" me an external one for almost nothing...
3) I dont need an 8-out board, since i'm not tracking anything in a big studio yet anyway...
4) i already have a turntable setup and plenty of records to sample from, along with soundforge, acid, cd burning programs and a nice monitoring system hooked up to my computer
5) i have a digital multitracker (8 tracks) that only records two mono inputs at a time...i was wondering if i could mute instruments and record each two at a time and still have control over each sound this way (the multitracker is also midi compatible but i dont know how it would interact with my MPC)
6) i have a good condensor mic setup, so sampling from that will be pretty cool
