Can the 2000classic and XL do this

I heard that you can zone a sample and assign all zones to one pad. You can also make them play in a sequence. If anyone know what i'm talking about can this be done and how? on both the classic and xl.

why would you want all zones on one pad?

i guess to free up pads for more sounds

think about it. you chop a sample into lets say 8 parts. Then you put those 8 parts on the same pad? That would be 8 different sounds playing at once, it would sound like garbage.

Try recording yourself saying 8 different words at once. ....then playback all 8 recordings at the same time.

one cant cancel out the other like a note off on one pad?

different pads, yes, but you said all zones on one pad.

If played back sequentially that result would be the same loop/sample you started out with. If played back at the same time, it would be jumbled like Tic said. So, no, you were misinformed. Sorry.

On the XL you have 64 pads in one bank, you have 4 banks at 128 pads. Do you REALLY make tracks that are that intricat/complex that you need to free up pads or worry about freeing up pads?
