mpc 2000xl internal zip drive problem!!!1

please help, i recently purchased an atapi 250mb internal zip drive for my mpc2kxl and fitted it but every time i turn my mpc on the lcd screen flashes and the unit wont turn on, if i disconnect the zip drive and turn it on its works fine. can anyone help????

Does the zip light come on at all?

There should be like a red colored side to the zip data cable, that is placed closest to the power when you plug it in.

did you connect the zip drive to the internal ide connector ?
