Hello,

I am a newbie, I did try the search function but did not find what I was looking for so maybe you Gurus can give me a hand.

I am using an MPC 2000.

My problem is that I want to fill all the banks (A-D) with my own drum samples that I sampled into the machine. I also want to have the mpc triggering external gear and VST's on the laptop via midi OUt. ( I want the data saved in the MPC )

What is happening is when I record the Midi data for the external gear using the pads, it is also playing the samples that are assigned to those pads merging the two.

Is there some feature that wont allow the midi data (for the external gear) on a specific track to trigger the samples in MPC?

The only way I found so far to kind of get what I need is to make Bank A the only bank that has samples on it. When I try to record midi data for the ext. gear , I have to avoid the keyboard notes (scale) assigned to Bank A....hence I have to limit the musical range I am working in (only banks B-D) can control the ext gear/vst's.

This is an awesome forum by the way, I just signed on today and have already found some awesome things to try.

anyway, thanks in advance.

Change the "DRUM1" Program in the bottom left of the screen to MIDI and the channel of the Midi u are needing to record, and that should stop it from playing the internal samples that u have recorded...do this for each track number, Midi Channel, or new sound that u wanna play and record by MIDI

Yes I did, and it solved one of the biggest problems of several that I have been having with this Beat Box from hell.

Why it never occured to me is becuase I was so used to hitting "open window" on most things to get more options, not using the data knob to switch options.
