PCD-47 is problematic - my FW m3.1

Hi all, glad to see the forum is still kicking!

I need to try another firmware on my PCD-47 and need an adaptec scsi card, or a member to help me out.

Basically, I posted on this back a while here:

I got over it, and to be frank, I haven't been using my MPC for a minute. It crashed right when I went to save on the CF on SCSI-2. Then again. Then a trend. I am going through troubleshooting to see if it could possibly be something with the card but it totally shouldn't be as it is fresh out the box SanDisk Ultra II. It has saved before, but who wants to put in work if it is a roll of the dice when you go to save.

Now I have that wicked screen of a bunch of numbers and letters I haven't seen in forever! Right when I go to save.

Anyway, I thought I may have the read-only firmware, but I don't. It's m3.1

Take it easy. Any help in Baltimore, DC, VA, NY, NJ, DE, etc. I appreciate it! I just want to flash a newer FW and see if that helps. I don't really have a need to buy a SCSI card other than for this but I see they are less then $20 shippes - I use a Powerbook for work, but have use of a PC

firmware m3.1 will work, it is the read and write firmware.

If you really want to re-flash the drive, check out http://www.midicase.com/card_reader_guide.htm the firmware is at the bottom of the page....

A few questions:

What OS are you running?

Have you formated the card as a Fat 16 on a PC?

Have you tried using a smaller card like 256 or 512?

Can you load from the card?

Thanks for the reply. I had a bad time flashing 1.20 from either my external zip or CF over the weekend, but after putting my floppy back in there, I now have 1.20. I have been running 1.14. I'll post what follows. I have no other size cards to try. It stinks because, regardless of the crashing, I only have usage of half my card on my Mac.

Hopefully 1.2 will work for you. Let us know how it goes.

Reformatted the card in XP as FAT16 (not quick)

Now the MPC has not crashed again yet (crossed fingers) and the card is the full Gig and can be read on Mac, PC, and MPC. Amazing.
