Creating wav files for loading into mpc2000xl

I am having trouble creating a wav file in my PC that will load into my MPC2000XL.
I use sound recorder to capture the sample and have saved it to a 16bit
44.1 wav sample. When i load it into the mpc it plays at about 10 times speed? It sounds like a chipmunk

Does anybody know the proper way to create a wav file on a PC that I can burn to a CDR that will load into the MPC?

What are the parameters on the pad that you are loading to?

It's possible that the pad is tuned up already when you load to it.

That has happened to me before.
