Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Finally had some kinda success calling up my planet phatt presets on my MPC 2000 classic..I simply went into the "step" menu selected program change and put the number of the preset in this field..Well actually I had to put one number higher..If my preset was number 19, i had to put 20..Dont know why but it works...i save the all file and that was that..However the results werent perfect all though close..It brings up the proper preset number, but the bank number is wrong.. Im assuming i have to do something else for it to recall the right bank.. Can anyone help me..For anyone using a motif workstation, do you use the method above saving program changes on the MPC or do you just save the presets on the motif as if u created a pattern and name it the same thing as you do the mpc files...Sounds confusing?

not sure where this post originated, so i cant credit the writer. i had it saved as a text file..

Anyway, here you go: (beware, overdubing erases these messages)

To get the MPC to change the banks on your sound module, you must insert a Bank Select message in the Step Edit mode of your MPC.

Since the MIDI specification defines two parts to a Bank Select message, you may need to insert two separate messages. Controller '0' is the Bank Select MSB and controller '32' is the Bank Select LSB. The exact procedure for creating a Bank Select will depend on the module that you want to control.

Please check the documentation that came with your module to determine the exact message(s) required.

The basic steps for inserting a Bank Select message are:
1.Locate to the point in your sequence where you want the bank change to occur (typically at the beginning).

2.From the MPC's Main Screen, press the F1 [STEP] key to enter the Step Edit mode.

3.Press the F4 [INSERT] key to open the 'Insert Event' window.

4.Select [CONTROL CHANGE] as the event type.

5.Press F5 [DO IT] to insert the event.

6.Controller '0', which is the Bank Select MSB event is selected and inserted by default.

7.Move the cursor to the 0 and set the value for your Bank Select message.

If your sound module requires a Bank Select LSB parameter, just repeat steps 2 - 7, but use the control knob to select controller 32 [Bank Select LSB] and set the appropriate value. After your message is inserted you can go to the Main Screen and play your sequence and the sound module should change banks when it reaches the point in the sequence where the message was inserted.

No luck.. Maybe i need to re explain.

When i only had one sound module (planet phatt) i created some songs..
The thing is everytime i go to work on these songs i have to manually input the right presets as i have not found a way to save the settings..

Then i found out that going into step menu on the mpc i can use the program change field to recall the preset which it does, but it does not recall the the proper bank..EXAMPLE.

The preset im trying to recall is 0043 but it recalls 0042 ( the last number 3 and 2 being the bank number) this is a improvement being that it doesnt take that long to input the right bank, but its still a step i dont wanna take..Now the mpc i did see a msb window, but not lsb and im not even sure what to input in the field...What am i missing?
