Can anyone tell me if there is anyone that I can hit one pad on the 2000XL and cause another pad to play at the same time.

u go to the program mode, select the pad you are hitting, set the mode to simul (lower left corner of the display) and then just insert the other pad which is supposed to be played (best way to just hit the number eg. 30, 23 or whatever)
