hey there , just got a nice akai mpc2000 .

but i have a problem with loading samples .
the floppy of my pc is **** up , and i dont have zip drive
i heared something about midi dump ?
im quite new to music production never heared about it ,
a guy told me on icq that its possible to transfer sample with midi to the mpc ? how is that to be done ? and how can save this back to the pc , when im done with my beats ? he also mentioned midi dump with scsi , but i dont have any scsi devices on my pc ?
what is the way to make that work ? and what will i need , scsi interface ?
and which ? there are so many different midi standards .
please help a n00b on this topic

Dumping sounds trough midi takes ages. Scsi is a lot faster, but you'll have to buy a scsi-card for your pc. I think you can buy one for about $50, so maybe you're better off getting a new floppy drive.
They're only about $8, so it's the cheapest option and it's fast as well.

thanks for taking interesst ,
well the actually bothering thing on floppy is , they arent capable of sample bigger than 1.4mn which is quite annoying , i just got zips today from ebay i think that will be the better way .

but then i have another question , im running win2k with ntfs fomated .
is it possible to transfer samples from the zip of my computer to the zip of the mpc without getting reading error . or do i have to change my pc to fat 32 ?

thanks in advance :D

I'm not sure about 2k, but xp gives trouble with ntfs. You can transfer samples to and from the zip, as long as you don't FORMAT the zipdisk with an OS running on an ntfs partion.
If you buy new zipdisk they're usually formatted for W98 and should be fine. Or you can format all of them on a friends W98 pc.

Yeah, i think so. All i'm saying is, give it a try. You might not have to reformat to FAT at all.
