first I would like to say i have just found this forum a couple of days ago and i can feel the hiphop screaming at me and I love it.
Heres the deal I am a mc first and for most but i got sick of waiting to get tracks so I am starting to get my weight up with producing. I have always wanted a mpc because everthing i like and ever rhyme on was done on and mpc 2000. I have done alot of reading and checking out specs on gear. I thought a all in one workstation would be the best place to start so I got a motif six and I have had it about 10 months now. I also have and yamaha aw16g. Right now I'm getting some hot tracks out of what I have.
I still feel like I need/want and mpc. I hear alot about the swing of the mpc and how easy it is to use but I already have a pretty good sequencer in the motif. As far as samplers I have two one in the aw16g and one in the motif. I get good drums from the motif and I can freak it pretty good not great yet but pretty good. The motif is great but the all in one just takes to long for my creative process and i wearing out those keys banging on them as i am not a keyboard player. I am looking at adding a 2000xl or maybe and I stress maybe a 4000. I think the 2000xl would be fine and more than enough to go with what I have. The 4000 looks good specs wise but after the learning curve I have delt with for the last ten months the last thing I want to do is buy another unit with a steep learning curve. That is my fear with the 4000 plus the reported bugs. thought about just getting the pads to go with my motif but I know I will still buy and mpc just to have it. Like I said I'm and mc first and all the producers I like and have worked with use mpc or sp1200. Sorry about the rant my question is what can the mpc do for my current sound and style and which one would you buy if you where me.
