I sold an MPC 2000XL to someone and they're telling me that when they try to save to the zip drive they get a message that says "ATAPI ERROR". Can anyone give me some insight on this? It never happened when I owned the machine, but I never used it much so I can't really remember all the ins and outs to it. If you cna help please do. Thanks.

ATAPI is the technical term for IDE. I would assume this meant that your IDE cable isn't attached properly to the drive, or perhaps the drive is broken. I don't have an internal Zip, so I have no hands-on experience, tho.

That's funny.
Ep, tell your friend to:
1. Check the zip disk, maybe it's corrupt.
2. internal zip cables, data cables and power cable.
If everything is FINE then it has to be the drive itself.

What's funny?
Should I have said that ATAPI stands for AT Attachment packet interface? And explain that IDE is now the common name for ATAPI even though the title IDE was invented by Compaq to make it's up-and-coming interface seem somehow different from the ATAPI interface that IBM was already developing?
I thought I would paraphrase.

I was just laughing to myself when I read it cause I was thinking about someone at work one day trying to sound smart and gave me a definition of ATAPI, which was WAY off.
Not laughing at you though, nah, it's not like that.
