Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By misscc Sun Jul 31, 2005 4:24 pm
Hey its me MISSdjcoley-cole,

I was just wondering if someone could help me out here. I own the mpc2000XL and wanted to incoporate that with FL4.

Right now I was using my Casio Keyboard to controll the sounds in FL but I want to add my MPC to the setup. I want to be able to use the MPCs sequencer and play the drums from FL on the MPC and my melodies from FL on the keyboard but record them into the MPC.

So can someone help me out or is this not possible or making sense.

What I have:
M-Audio 2496 sound card(midi in and midi out only)
Akai MPC2000XL
Casio CTK-471(midi in and midi out only)

Thanks in advance.

Can't you just take the sounds from Fruityloops and load them into your MPC?...then you can use the keyboard and the XL's autochromatic function to play the melodies and the MPC for the drums.

I used to use FL before I got the MPC, but now I dont use it at all,

Bless,

Ok so how do I go about doing that. Please explain. So are u saying I can take sounds I have in FL that I use for making melodies and then play my drums on the MPC? But my question is how do I get the sound I want to play the melodie for to lay across the whole keyboard cause when I do hook up my keyboard to the mpc the sounds aren't spread on all the keys. If you show me how to do it that would be great.

Oh yeah one more thing before I go. Will I be able to use more than one melodie with the keyboard. Its a Casio Keyboard I was using it as an Controller to FL. Basically will I be able to play a piano on Track 1 and then play a guitar on Track 2 and the piano remains on Track 1 and the guitar remains on Track 2. What I'm saying is when I change tracks and sounds will the sounds I previously used remain as they are?

Thanks In Advance

Ere wot,

I can explain how I would go about it and hope that it helps you.

Take the WAV files you want for your drums and your melodies...save them from your computer onto a zip disk. ( I've got two zips...one attatched to my P.C another to my MPC).

Take the zip disk containing the WAV files...load them into your MPC, and assign them to pads...play ya drums...then using the autochromatic function of the XL.....spread the melody sounds on ya keyboard...

check this link for info on the autochromatic function:

Ok thanks for the info Living Bate but my question now is how many sounds will I be able to use doing that? Cause I tried it but I can only use 4 sounds or maybe I'm not setting it up right. If some does this and they know how to be able to more sounds please post here or send me an im.

I think you can use more than 4 sounds, you just have to create a new program for the sound you want to use the autochromatic function on.
so one program for drumhits and another for keyboard etc...

Now i have'nt used the 2kxl for a year or two, and my memory is not what it used to be hehehe... so this might be wrong, but only 4 sounds would suck
