can anyone recommend a scsi cd-rom (cheap but new) that works well with the 2000 xl and where to buy one?

is anyone using akai s1000/3000 formatted cd's with there xl directly from a cd-rom? and if so, do the programs stay intact and how well does it all work.

jusy got me a 2000 xl. wasn't really feeling the 1000. i have a bunch of old sample cd's and want to get them sounds pumpin'

I buy mine at yard sales, flea markets and used shops for $5. All work except the old NEC models.

According to the docs (imagine that!), the MPC does not read programs from S-seris sample disks.

I had to learn the hard way bout that too, one would think that it would read programs off S1000 and S3000 cd's but no such.... the only thing u can do is load individual samples, and build a program from there, makes more sense to do it on the pc with mpc editor

"One would think that it would read programs off S1000 and S3000"

S-1000/3000 program is nothing like an MPC program.
