Fellas I am wrestling with a question..."What is the best Mic-Pre a studio can have....some say Avalon...some say Focusrite....what do you guys say??.....or is there something way better out there that I don't know about?...

and this question is totally unrelated but....what do I do when my samples are in stereo.....do i track them like that or do I convert them and then track them into protools? Are all you guys samples in stereo? (which they shouldn't be according to my knowledge......but I could be wrong?)....like am I missing out on something....i.e....harder kick...harder snare...etc....Holla at me and school me on whats good?

Just trying to be the best I can be homies....sorry if i sound like a novice...

best is what sounds best to your ears...(also check tube tech and universal audio)

but anyways, would have been better to post the question in the production tech forum!

only sample stereo samples in stereo! kicks, hihats, snares, and all that stuff mono...
just think about how many mics you'd use if you'd record that "sample" yaself! would you use a stereo micin technique for a kick or snare? or for a single voice?
