Wrong CF Reader for 2kxl.

Whussup.
I was lucky just a week ago when i found a compact flash drive for my mpc2000xl. Today when I installed it instead of my zip drive, the cf drive don't work. Zip drive works but the cf don't.
I paid 60euros for the fakin thing and it don't even work. And I run OS 1.14

Damn i'm angry.

Make and Model of CF reader please ?

I copped the $27 reader from compuapps.com and it doesn't work. I thought I had the wrong jumper pin settings at first, but I tried almost every possible way and it still didn't work. So I'm lookin for a new one now. Holla if u got any suggestions.

Ever consider that may be the problem? Didn't Akai release and OS specifically for card reading?

Also try loading OS 1.2 from the Akai site as mpc3000 mentioned.

Lampdog AFAIK is running an IDE cf reader with os1.14 it seems like the only difference on card readers is that the 1.20 os is capable of accessing larger cf cards (1gb) without the need to split it in different partitions.

This reader came in a plastic bag, so i have no idea who made or nothing.

And i tried every jumper setting also and three diffrent cf cards (kingston, extremeory and sandisk) and it made no doffrens.

That seems the one a lot of peeps here are using so you should be fine, when you install it make sure you set it to MASTER device (the manual will show you which jumper to set where).

hood-wise....so the compuapps readers dont work? dammit! i just ordered that $17 joint. i hope they do returns

but have u tried it with OS1.2? ssome folks had problems with 1.14 and some didn't...but 1.2 should be a shure shot with the cr!

if the card reader is an IDE ATAPI and u installed it propper it should work with any fabrique under OS1.2....

I've done 4 cr installations with different manufactured cr's...all of em worked out good!

I run the EXACT cf reader you specify in your previous threads (same cf reader u speak about also in the "USEFUL LINKS") and I still have OS1.14, my Lexar CFII card is 512mb. Formatted on PC fat16, never had a problem, I use it transfer to my triton, pc and mpc back and forth with no problems at all.

DONT WORRY BROTHER, THE READER ARE ALL THE SAME, BRANDS ARE NOT ALL THAT IMPORTANT. JUST MAKE SURE YOU ARE DOING EVERYTHING CORRECT- THATS ALL.

Is the card reader SCSI or IDE/ATAPI?

I heard that the $17 reader works wit no problem. I think I might have the wrong jumper pin setting. It is a ide/atapi drive, the only solution I can think of is the jumper pins and I can't get around that.

I got the new cardreader for the 2kxl.

The questions remains: How can i add files to the cf card from winxp when the cf card is formatted with mpc2kxl.
