By scalez Wed Aug 10, 2005 9:41 pm
OK eff it. No one's going to respond to that old post anyway.

My question is does anyone know where to find instructions on how to install an internal zip in a MPC 2000 Classic

I did the search and found the million times it's been asked, as well as a total of 0 times it's been answered. This post is an attempt to increase that to a total of 1.

yeah, I have not seen any posts on this where some one actually confirmed this worked. Please point it out if you know where it is because Scalez already posted in the most recent thread on this issue and got no replies.

if you really want it you might as well just pay Forat to do it. They can even put a card reader on it for you.

"My question is does anyone know where to find instructions on how to install an internal zip in a MPC 2000 Classic"

You are not going to find instructions on how to install an internal Zip for a MPC2000. There is not any. That is not the same a saying it cannot be done. There are only a handful that have the proper technical ability to do this but I suspect they would be less than eager to write up instructions that would take money out of their pocket.

You have two choices, one is to do it yourself, two is pay someone else. It is a little unfair to come here and demand that someone help for FREE.

I don't usually get vexed on web forums but I'm about to go nuts if I don't.

Thanks for pointing this out to the Do-A-Search Nazis (who if they had done a search themselves, or just clicked the link in the original post on this thread, would have realized that I already did that).

If I wanted to spend hundreds of dollars, I would already have done that. I happen to have lots of time and not much money. If this was a forum about cars and I asked how to change an oil filter, only an **** would post a link to Midas. No offense.

I want to do it myself or I would have saved myself the trouble and insult of posting about it here and would have gone straight to Forat.

I agree. It's also unfair to imply that I came here demanding anything. I was asking for help. And that request still stands. If someone wants to offer any actual help with this, your post would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

unfortunately not many people here would attempt to screw around with their 2000 like that. its not a normal upgrade for that particular model.

if i had the answer i would most definitely help you out. but i dont think you will find the answer here on this forum.

good luck man.

None taken.I understand where you're comin from because i have a 2K and i get a little jealous when i hear people talk abouut their card reader and how much they love it.But since i'm not willing to pay Forat,i stick with what i have and make it work.So if you ever do find another way to get it done.................... go for it.Good Luck.

Shalom,

Does anybody know how much Forat is charging off hand to make that upgrade on the 2000 Classic???

One of my home boys was telling me its a real tight job to do because you have to bascially reform the layout cabels of a floppy to a card reader or internal zip as they did with the 2000XL. And if you screw up just a slight then your 2000 is pretty much dead.

I'm wonderning if you could by pass Forat and get the info from them from a technical aspect and holla at some one who does computer repairs who has a understanding with upgrades from a floppy based drive to a card reader???? And might cost a fraction way cheaper then Forat since Forat is dealing with kats on beat machines where a computer kats deals with that all day and might be a simple task to them.

Just an idea, may or may not work.

Yeah bruh... I was thinking the same thing. I got a 2KXL so I got more options but I want to help out my Bruhz with the straight 2K. The problem is finding someone one who is knowledgable on electronic circuitry and computers. I am an electrician/mechanic by trade and there are some mods I wanted to do to my 2kXL. Like put a mercury switch in the tilt screen so when it is laid down, the backlight is turned off. And to turn it on, just raise the the tilt screen.
I talked to my Boss about my other ideas since he's a electronics technician . Like combining both memory slots on the 2K's together to get more that 32 mb total memory. He said there should be a way but I need wiring schematics to address that issue. But he did say it could be done.
I'll let my MPC Fam know of any more details on it.
