JUST BLAZE SAMPLING TECHNIQUE

ANY1 KNOW OR UNDERSTAND THE WAY HE CUTS OF 70'S/80'S SAMPLES AN CREATES A TRACK? IS THAT MPC CAPABILITIES OR A PROPER SAMPLE. SUM1 PLS HELP

I think they just make the sample high pitched. The rest is his own creativity.

When hes sampling from the turntable, all he does is set it to 45 instead of 33. Gives any record that hi-pitched sound.

I think its more sound processing then pitching up his samples, I have the record he grabbed the "oh boy" sample off of, and when I pitch it up it dont sound like it does on the song, or it could be that I have a record that has someone else saying "oh boy".

I think he also uses timestrecthing to get the samples to fit then pitches them up, cuz whenever I do it any other way, it sounds hollow. could be that just blaze is just a better producer then me

its a dope ROC sounds, Kanye West also got this type of sound

Pitches the samples up, timestretches, and sometimes chops, it's that simple. Add a low/high pass filter and youre good.

ok....i can do the low/hi filtering well, i can pitch up the sounds and set teh TUNE right, I can chop up a sequence well....I have played time and time again with TIMESTRETCH but still can't figure it out on the MPC....I can do it well in Cool Edit....but want to know how to do it on the MPC......

I KNOW THIS IS A JUST BLAZE THREAD....I ain't tryin to bite his style but I have found plenty of samples similar to his style that I want to incorporate in mine....just can't get it right...maybe understanding TIMESTRETCH will help alot....i think it will....

1. What exactly does timestretch do?
2. WHat are the fem vox/male vox and all those settings for?
3. what is the difference between fem vox a, b, c.....etc.?
4. WHat does raising/lowering the ratio do exactly?
5. what is the ADJUST value doing?
6. and finally, is BPM only for mathing the sampled tempo to the beat, or does it have other functions.....?

I am posting this in this thread and creating a new thread for it.......maybe TUTOR can set up a tutorial or someone who knows a lot about it can write one up.....

the manual explains pretty good how this works look unda' timestretch' the femvox/malevox is for when you sample one of these and the a,b,c is for different tones in the voice or something like that meaning if you sample a voice with a hi pitch or a low pitch, to make sure you can read it in the manual it tells you better. sorry my explanation is half assed....

I had a z4 for a bit and some of the new pole filters in there give you that hollow sound you guys are speaking of, he's probably using a MPC4000.

I actually read that Just Blaze uses Fruity Loops to transform his samples and then run them back thru his MPC. I CANNOT tell you where I read it, but I did and it was a quote coming directly from him. RUNTELDAT

That Fruityloops statement makes no sense. What can fruityloops do that any mpc or other software cant in this aspect? IF its true then its probably just because he knows how to work fruity really well and not his mpc...

i highly doubt its on Fruity Loops....maybe Cool Edit like Kanye uses at times....but not FL.....he def uses an MPC for samples....I know some dudes that worked with him pre-Rocafella and all he was using was an MPC then( they even had pics of his studio in Philly....and he had the same type beats then....could be that he learned FL or Cool Edit later but why revert to that when you have thousands of dollars and samples right in front of you.....not to mention, equipment.....feel me?

It's mostly that he finds the right brass samples/loops and then adds synths.....

oh yeah...and i figured out the timestretching stuff......i was doing it all along but didn't know the "theory" behind it....thanks
