control change question with juno 106 and mpc xl

hi my juno is hooked midi in to xl and out from xl to in on the juno so i can tweak and play the keys on my juno while the mpc records so heres my question why isnt my juno when i filter sweep it making smooth filter sweeps it sweeps in increments not smoothly i hope i am explaining it right here if you understand what im saying how can i get my mpc to record smooth filter sweeps instead of it recording only increments(like when i sweep the filter it sounds like a sqaure wave if i sweep it up a liitle and back down) instead if what i want my mpc to record the juno sweeping smoothly without the filter jumping up little notches. this is the best i know i can describe what my juno sounds like i hope im communicating through to someone

because it uses sysex. and it sux, it will most likely crash your mpc time and time again sequencing all that garbage data. you got hands my brother.

yeah the 106 tends to spit out way too much data when you set that switch to III

i dont think it does this, or even CAN do this, but maybe the mpc is quantizing the sysex data? cuz ive never noticed filter sweeps not being smooth. maybe im not remembering right, but i use the 106 more than anything else in here...

other than that, you can try this. instead of doing the filter sweep with the filter slider, you can do it with the pitch bender which will come out smooth. just set the sysex switch on the back of the 106 to II so youre not recording all the extra sysex crap. make sure you take note of where the bender->VCF slider is at so you can set it up the same next time (i usually make a specially named dummy track on the mpc so i see the comment next time i load up the sequence)

solution turn off quantize on midi track i am controlling filters ect
