another old SCSI problem

I have an Iomega 100mb SCSI zip with a cord that says "lorom SCSI 2 type cl2" 25 pin to 25 pin with a 25 to 50 adapter. is this my problem? (it says no SCSI or SCSI problem on ID#6). if so, where can I get a good cable?

I have to turn mine on without the zip disk in the drive and wait for it to go to the Main Screen before I load it up otherwise I always get the SCSI error ID#6.
But I dont know about that adapter. You actually have an adapter 50 pin adapter on the end of a 25pin 25pin cable? I didnt even now they made such a thing.
