Sample editors

Does anybody know of a way I can download free software to my pc so I can convert sample files to pcm files? That way I can save them to a cd rom and load them on my Mpc's scsi cd rom.

Or at least something cheaper than Soundforge? Holla back. Peace

cool edit can read them and convert I think.
