can mpc 2000 read mpc 2000xl discs?

hi,
i have recently added an mpc 2000xl to my arsenal. a friend of mine has an mpc 2000. will i be able to share program/midi data created off the mpc2000xl with my friends mpc 2000? (both units have zip drives)

i know the file system is different on the xl. it has the ability to use folders where the old mpc does not. i am sure this could be a problem. however if you keep all files on the disc out of folders can the old mpc read the mpc 2000xl data?

I believe the XL can read 2000, but not the other way around.. im not positive though.

The MPC2000 has difficulties with APS and ALL files saved from MPC2000XL (according to people I have talked to). PGM and MID and SND files are read perfectly between the two. the MP2000 wont load WAV files as part of a pgm either.

i had this problem also my friend has the 2ooo and i have the 2kxl both with zips but mine is 250 his is 100mb's itook my zip to his mpc and it could not read my files, his could not open my files,what if i would have taken floppies to his mpc would it have read that or is that to much mb's for the 2k to read.

A Zip100 drive will not read 250meg disks.
