Pads on 2kxl

I just got my first MPC (da 2kxl) yesterday. It seems as if i have to hit the pads pretty hard to get the sound of it and it has to be right in the center of the pad. Its a fairly old MPC id say about 4/5 years, does anybody else find this or do u rekon its my pads. I also tried changing the velocity and didnt notice ne difference. Any input would be appreciated.

My pads on my XL work great, and I've had it for like 3-4 years. But, a friend of mine has an older XL too, and his pads have been doing the same thing yours is doing. You have to hit really hard and right in the center. But, I don't know how to fix it? You may have to take it apart and look at the underside of the pads. There may be dust in there or something...

the pad sensors are probably worn. which is common for heavy use.

you should see the banner ad above ('vst'). check em out. they should be able to point you in the right direction.

Just another thing i just discovered w it. On like the bottom 8 pads when i bang out on them its grand but when i reacord it is so off beat, like it sounds nothing like what i recorded. Is this a preset on it or is just another thing thats fkd up wi it. Thnx

you should search it...or read your manual...look under timing!!!

on the main screen were it says timing you have the option. off, 1/8,1/8(3),1/16,1/16(3),1/32,1/32(3). when you turn on the mpc it defaults to 1/16 which moves every sound you punch in to the nearest 1/16. thats why it doesnt sound the same as when you recorded it. You either have to know the signature of each time you hit the pad for it to sound the same as when you tapped it out or you can just turn it to OFF and it will sound exactly how you played it.

I have a similar problem with my drumpads.

when i hit a drumpad i m not able to get the mazimum volume level, no matter how hard i hit the drumpad. I only get the maximum level with the full level button.
Is this normal for a 2000xl?

Your finding this out after you've paid for it...? Yes, this is normal for the MPC.

If u cant get maximum velocity with pads just turn full level on. If u want alternating velocites than change them in the step edit screen. Problem solved

why are they dynamic if u have to change velocity in step edit anyway?

It is strange man. I can get maximum velocity with my pads.
