This is gona sound like a stupid q. I got a good deal on a 2kxl n it said that it came with an eb16. Any way im not really feeling the 2kxl and am gona sell it n get an MPC 1k or Fantom x6. B4 i sell it though and state that there is an eb16 in it is there ne way that i can check to make sure that it is there. Ive never used (or had to use) the effects so dont know ne thing about it. Is there any way of checking like u can check the Ram.

Thanx in advance

2kxl - shift + mixer (7)
drum1 or 2 or 3 or 4.
hit the fxsend F button. If you have
NO EB16 it will tell you that no card is installed.

I think that is the quickest way. Maybe I'm remembering it wrong.

hmm, thats alot, i got my XL with 32MBRAM, 8outs, FX, 10jack-jack snake, external zip250 + 5discs (and a little case for zip and discs), all the cables and 2 manuals (english and french) for 800euro wich is a good price in belgium.

i would lower the price to make shure it sells, but then again, if you take your time it might sell for that price... but i doubt it...

good luck selling

Yeah i saw that :( . I want to get a 1000 instead but the 1000s seem to be nearly as much as the 2000xl. I just think that it would fit into my setup much better.

Have you played with the 1k to see what features it has that you don't have already in the 2kxl? AND ask yourself do you need those features in your production now/later?

The extra ram, cf, and usb conn in the 1k is tempting but it's deeper than that.

Thing about were I live is there is no were to try most of the music gear. If i want an MPC I have to get it off the net (except for my 2kxl cus some1 was selling it in Ireland) The main reason that im selling my 2kxl is cus the pads are not really that sensitive i guess cus its kinda old so ima move on n i didnt want to b forking out money on a mixer and zipdrives and everything. Also if i get a 1k ill have some change so I can get some sample librarys for my comp or something. From whta ive heard from here not many people chop samples on there 1k but i want to, im just wondering if it is that good on the 1k compared to the 2kxl. Do u thnk im making a mistake letting it go cus im really unsure?

buy some more pads for your 2kxl, VST, the banner at the top of the forums. You can get a cf drive for your 2kxl. All of that right there is cheaper than the price of the 1k. But ultimately you do what you feel is right. That sucks not to have anywhere to play and test the gear that you want. The 1k feels like too much of a toy to me, but that's just ME though. I changed my floppy in my 2kxl to zip then to cf, I love it. got a card reader on my pc and nothing can stop me now. You'll be happy with any mpc cause they are all good. Get the 1k cause it sounds like your heart is set on it anyway, go ahead and make the jump. Don't look back, just jump.

If you do seel, def would be hard to sell for over a grand. I picked up a maxed out special edition for about that. For the same reason I recomend people to buy used rather than new (I don't know how akai still charges so much for something so old).

Anyway, if you want to make the most money, strip out the effects and 8 out board and sell seperately. They will go for way more total than if you sell it all together. Seems there are more people with MPCs that need the options than people without MPCs that need them. I don't even think they sell MPCs with the options anymore, so the need is there.

Yeah i was thinking bout that Smooth. Im really confused about my set up to be honest. Ive made a load o posts asking how to use Reason as a sound module n just cant seem to get it right. Do any of you know what i need to do with this. For my keyboard i got the out to the MPC in, Reason into MPC out (i think thats how i did it ne way i unhooked erething again) but basically the sounds were playin from 2 dif places. I could get the Reason sounds to play on my keys and MPC but if i wanted to play the MPs internal samples i had to use my headphones in the MP. How do I get everything to work together. Im guessing I need some kinda souncard for my laptop but what wires n stuff do i need. I guess if i f igure this out i might keep the 2000xl its just driving me mad cus i really dont like Reasons sequencer n i cannt get this set up goin. I understand the whole channel thing i gots all that down

PS soz bout the long thread

I think I have read that about 20 times at least cus people keep telling me to read it LOL. It helped loads n i got that working except i just want to know why my Reason sounds are coming from my computer headphones instead of the headphones in my MPC cus then i cant use the internal MP sounds in it.

Any ideas?

ok, i think your having some trouble understanding MIDI. the important think to know is that no sound goes thru the midi cable, just pulses. the spulses van do lots of things, just do a search on MIDI.

to hear the sounds from the MPC and REASON in the same headphone, you need to mix the 2 audiosignals together by using a basic mixer. a 2 stereo channel mixer will do if you just plan to use the 2 stereo channels. then you plug your headphones in the headphonejack of the mixer and you will hear the mixed sound.

hope this help
