Trials and Tribulations of using a MPC2000 in the new world

Please share your thoughts
on the pros and cons of using a 2000
when you can use pro tools
or reason live etc etc

I personally prefer to phrase sample on pro tools
but nothing sounds like my mpc
My biggest fear is the loss
of my sounds
cause zip disks suck
once i figure out how to hook up a cd burner
or use prgm maker
I can start to get over that fear

Any other thoughts?

it is strickly perference what one uses. it is amazing how you/other make thier beats just with a mpc. by the way i own mcp2000 classic (fully loaded) for about 10 years and have the manual on the floor right next to it.

Endless potential for ceativity! Just get to work and stop talking about it.

It's funny when I tell cats I got a Roland TR808, they r like "yeah, thats cool". But when I say I got an MPC, they're like "Damn! Where did you get that from? WOW! For real? How much did you get it for?".
They are more interested in the MPC than my older gear.

mpc's are more intuitive imo, more spontaneous. i like the straight to the point, cut the bullsht -type of usage

also the feel of the pads (and really the machine itself) is spot on.

besides, computer screens hurt my eyes

I gotta admit that i was all sofware..except keys of course..until i got an mpc earlier this year.. man i wish i had owned one 5 years ago! i have reason and redrum is cool for just putting together ideas and i've used it for actual songs..but I gotta admit there is NOTHING like playing the pads and the sound you get out of an mpc... people do amazing stuff with other softwear gear tho too.. listening to Little Brother latest CD makes me unbelievable envious that 9th wonder can do that with FruityLoops.. He or KLC said it best in the last issue of scratch. how what u use inspires u that matters.. no gear is better than any other.. I use Live for some sample loop based ideas with the option of replaying the drums w/mpc ..but i am finding i can do SO much cool shit with just my MPC and a triton and i'm only a few months in.. ok i'll shut up now lol

people give props cause they hear a bunch of the pros use mpc's. so i guess they think if they get an mpc they'll instantly become a pro!

but foreal, it was my first peice of hardware. hardware as far as drum machine/sampler/sequencer. so i cant really compare it with any other piece like it. so like dstruct said, all i know is the mpc. its great! gets the job done!
