I have an old gemini Xl-500 turntable running directly to my mpc. The static is fine with me (gives your tracks a grimey feel) but that other noise (dont know what its called) is just annoying, like the sound of the power being on the turntable. Is it my turntable? Should i get a new and improved one. Or should i try to run it through a mixer (which i have, but for some reason it didnt work :(), then to the mpc??

Make sure your TT is properly grounded.

or get a groundless TT like the TTX or STR8-100

i always get a mad buzz.... sometimes when i first turn on my mpc... and go to the sample screen... i always... just fiddle with the turntable ground wire connected to my stereo receiver...and the problem is fixed.... is there a way to fix this so that this doesn't happen at all...

See i use to have that little metal clip ground wire thing, but when i got new connectors to go from the TT to the MPC, they obviously didnt come with the ground wire. So those are some groundless turntables?? Are they any good? thanks

by "Behring" products you mean Behringer, and their products are mostly cheap trash. a power conditioner like you mention is a completely different topic.

dont confuse the issue.

the "sound" you mention from your deck is what we call "rumble". this is the turntable and not the grounding etc.

get yourself a decent deck. go the obvious option, Technics SL1200, or take your time checking out the Vestax range. i have 1200's but also a mix mike model Vestax which i prefer for scratching, no real tech-y reason, just because it "feels" better to me. opinion.

A lot of the newer tables have this groundless connection shit. TTx, STR8-100, probably the 1200 mk5 too (although only +/-8 pitch adjust!) I like my STR8-100, but I am no expert, my DJ buddies seem to like it though.

Hey now, be easy. i LOVE my Eurorack, and that thing is far from "cheap trash"... in fact, it's a tank.

Sorry for the off-topic banter. Carry on
