Renaming PC Samples

Ok, I've used software for years, so I have a lot of breaks, samples, etc. on my computer. I just got an MPC 2000xl MCD, and I love it. I want to save the samples from my PC onto a flash card and load it into the MPC. In the manual it says the MPC can only read 9 characters, so would I have to go shorten the names of all my samples individually on PC or is there a quicker way of doing it?

This is a neat little conversion program to rename a batch of filenames in one go. Lampdog mentioned it a long time ago.

You can batch rename files in Windows XP also.

I don't do it in xp cause I hate the way xp handles the names.
That's just me. I have more control and freedom in CKRENAME.
Been using it for YEARS now. LOVE IT.
