Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Is it possible to enter a number of zones on the standard MPC 2000?

I have heard about people cutting samples up into zones then placing them across the pads. Which would be way easier than my current method (Keep copying the sample and cutting different stabs out).

The 2000 classic has Zn-EDIT , which is a lil differ from the 2000XL ZONE SLICE ,but can still chop your samples...

what pizzez me off about this feature..and someone may be able to explain this for me....is when you get the MPC to lay the different zones across the pads it overwrites the samples I've got in bank A...

e.g Bank A I've got drum sounds and I've made a drum sequence....when I spread the zones of a sample across the pads it puts those samples in the place of the drum samples....so my drum sequence is now gone and it is now a sequence of the zones...

Anyone know what am on about? can anyone explain?

Like O said, 2k only has 1 active accesbile PGM at a time and when u did that you added a PGM into that slot. You will have to go and change the progam back to your drum PGM. You can access the other PGM's via step edit program changes can't you?
