Is the Switch from 2000 to 2000XL going to be painless?

I am HEAVILY considering selling my 2000 and buying a XL. But what I wanna know is will all of my sequences and programs etc play on the XL with no problems? I just wanna be able to take the same zip disk I have now and put them in the XL. Is this possible?

Plus eventually, I want to get away from using zip disk and go with one big flash cards. The Guitar Center by my house has some biege model XL's for $750, which I think is a bargain considering earlier this year I paid $800 for my classic. but I don't think they have anything on them. Not even 32 MB.

one more question. What about the 1000? How could I go about that conversion? I don't mind the 1000 either, or it's cheap feeling pads....lol But I have so much stuff on zip disc, in fact, all of my stuff is on zip disc, can't really afford a screw up.

well, I've messed with both machines for long periods of time, and I think the MPC2000 pads have a better feel to them. Just my opinion. I'm not at all trying to knock your machine, I'm thinking about getting one!!!!!!

Yes, the XL WILL read the classic 2000 zip disk with NO PROBLEM.

Pop it right it and see. You could test this out, but making a backup of your classic zip disk and then taking it to GC to load into the XL.

One of my friend still used the classic version. He loads his zip disk in my XL frequently. This is NOT backward compatible tho. The classic cannot load XL disks.

All ur 2k stuff can be loaded in the xl w/ no problem.

RAM for the 2k/2kxl is VERY cheap.

Your going to be a VERY happy camper.

The cf reader install is easy, only thing that kills some people is setting the jumper correctly on the back of the cf drive and the power connection for the cf drive, but even those are simple fixes.
