If you've already installed it I'm not sure why it wouldn't work... The IB-208P and IBM208P are the same board I think. The only differences being in the way each is mounted in their intended machines, and certain cable lengths (I'm not 100% sure about the latter)... Just making installation into an mpc more of a pain in the ass.

You sahould read up on past thread that would've covered this. You should be able to get all the info you need. Do a search along the lines of 's2000 AND mpc AND outs'

Peace

Ok heres the deal. i brought the s2000 8 out board from ebay about a month ago. I'd done some research before and the general consensus was that it should work fine.

When i received the board i modfied the plate its mounted on by hack sawing off the end so it would fit in the mp. When i finally got around to installing it i turn it on and all i can here is white noise when i trigger samples.

I've taken it into a repair shop and they said that the 8 outs for the S2000 is only compatible with the MPC2000 not XL. However i've found plenty of information on the internet saying this isn't true.

So can anyone help. I'm a student, already in a lot of debt, i need the 8 outs and i can't afford for this not to work. If anyone knows whats up, please help i'm going crazy here!!!.

Maybe that has something to do with it.I'm no expert though so i can't say for sure.Where were you when you were sawing it?Were you grounded?

They should def work. i've installed the Mutec 8 outs for the S2000 in my XL and it works perfectly. I didn't hacksaw pieces off it though  , just took out the SMPTE outs for some space. Also the cable had to be raplaced by a longer version (the non-twisted part of a floppy drive cable will do just fine)

I sawed off part of the plate it was mounted on not the actual circuit board. I detached it from the metal plate when i was sawing. So it should definatly work? can anyone explain the white noise?.

let's just be clear that the S2000 board will not work without modding the brackett, and more importantly the length of the cable

I know b/c I was duped into this same scenerio

I did all the splicing of the floppy cable etc, hooked it up, and got nothing from any of my outs...apparently a fuse got blown

ended up sending my MP off, and gettin the pros to do it up right...now it works

I've modded the brackett and the length of the cable reaches from the 8 outs to the motherboard. Its supposed to be with the "pros" at the momment but all they've told me is that is not compatible. Oh and replaced the variation slider and charged me 55 quid for the pleasure.

Just to make sure: you DID assign samples to them right?

Stupid question but I've known people forgetting this before...

Yeah man, thats the problem. When i hit the pads it makes white noise for roughly the same amount of time as it would play each sample.

And thats from the stereo outs i can't get anything from the individual outputs.

So since installation, stereo outs give white noise as samples and individual outs do nothing? That sounds pretty key... as in someone in the know could diagnose your problem from that.

Wheres' the mpc forums tech squad at?? You know who you are. 8)

I recall having the same problem when I installed mine. Try to connect the floppy cable the other way round (what's left now goes right).

A while back doing some testing, I tried to install the 8-out from the S2000 into my MPC2000XLse1. I also hacksawed off the end and modded the bracket where it would reach the brass stand offs and all.

When I put the IB-M208P back in my unit, I also got the white noise. It was due to the fact that I hadn't plugged the ribbon connector for the IB-M208P all the in to the slot on the motherboard. When I re-checked the connection and plugged it all the way in all was good. Check to be sure all of the connections (including the ribbon connectors) are connected tight and are okay

Does it only happen when you have those 8 outs connected? Maybe you got that cable wired in backwards or something.

Its still at the "repair shop" at the momment. I did definatly check the connection when i first noticed the problem after installing. I phoned the shop again after posting the message here, the guy is an arsehole and doesn't believe its compatible. Anyway he said he'd try it in a s2000 to see if its a problem with the board. Thanks for your help so far.

One thing that just occured to me, could it possibly be a problem with the cable? or would i not get any noise at all?.
