Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By vice Thu Nov 03, 2005 1:10 am
This has just started recently where every once in awhile i will turn on the machine and it will only read the original 2 mb installed under the sample window. Sometimes i have to actually open up the machine and fiddle with the chip to get it to work. Does this sound like a chip problem or machine problem? Any suggestions?

More likley to be a problem with the ram. Get a new SIMM.

Yeah sometimes the brand of memory chips u use can be da problem cause it may not be 100 percent compatible. Also movement of da MPC can sometimes knock da chips a little loose. Try moving it around to the other slot and keep testing what happens.( u probaly already have done so). If that doesnt work try new memory and if u are still having issues it could be a problem with your memory slot holder.

Make sure the stick of RAM snaps into place and is sitting up right.

i appreciate the feedback, i have actually tried making sure the stick is upright and all of that. I'm hoping its not the holder, then i'd be screwed. I'm going to Guitar Center for a new chip, and i will post the results.

I don't know mayne. Maybe bad RAM stick... again?

I know there is a RAM memory check screen on the 2KXL but I don't know about on the straight 2K.
