midi sync with cubase (yes i watched the vid and researched)

First, I really appreciate the video made on syncing the mpc to cubase, it defintely steered me in the right direction. I also researched the mpc forums as well as other sites for my problem but did not find an answer. I've triend my best to figure it out on my own but it has not worked out so please hlep me out if you can. Here is the run down:

Equipment:
M AUDIO Quattro Interface
MPC 2000xl
Cubase SX 3
Soundmax soundcard

How it's connected:

Interface, computer and mpc are all connected properly for recording and playing sounds off the mpc into cubase without midi/sync.

MIDI/SYNC:
1 midi cable coming OUT of the maudio interface and IN to the mpc midi in slot 1.

MIDI/SYNC screen on mpc:
Sync In 1
Midi time code selected
Frame rate 25
Recieve MMC ON

The sync out side on the right is turned off

Midi Machine Control Settings:

MMC Active (not selected)

Midi Time Code Destinations (OUT):

Micorsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth
Soundmax Wavetable Synth
Out Usb Quattro (selected)

Mid time code follows project time (selected)

I have tried multiple variations with all of these ending in the same result. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
