Does Kayne West use an MPC? Can someone verify this.

I am sure that someone that hangs out in the `Off Topic` forum knows.

im 90% sure that he does....i once saw an interview with him in the studio while he was makin Jay-z's "Ain't No Love" from The Blueprint. In the studio he basically was using just a 2000xl and a studio mixer it seemed like.....but it was def the 2000xl.....pads were on the right....screen was on the left and flipped upwards.

Also if you listen to a lot of stuff that he used to rap over pre-Roc-a-fella then you can tell that it is a lil more "punchy" as many say the 2000xl is.....

No offense, but these questions are f*ckin retarded because....

1. These dudes are rich professionals, they can use whatever they are in the mood to use. No one probably uses just one machine or program.

2. Just because you use the same piece of gear doesnt mean your sh*t will sound the same. Take into account professional mixing/mastering, me with my amateur techniques, can completely flip the song I created on MPC with ProTools and mold the sound to come close to pro standards.

3. I have heard beats done with Fruity Loops that sound EXACTLY like Kayne Wests stuff. Check your brain first, thats your most important piece of equipment.

4. I'm not trying to get down on you or nothing, I'm just sick of these questions popping up everywhere I look for new ideas on the net. Peace dog!

Ok, I hear you. I simply asked to know. My purpose is not to "emulate" these "big" guys, I simply wanted to know. I don't think ppl watch lifestyles of the rich and famous to be rich, etc. I haven't taken offense, but I understand what you are saying.

I don't think these questions are retarded. Some pros do use one machine and it's inspiring for us po' people to know how and why they use that machine. What about Prefuse 73 or DJ Shadow? Both rely strictly on MPC units to create most of their music.

some cats swear by MPC, I use one, but my buddies use there keyboards and midi them up to samplers ...it doesn't matter what you use ...also those cats use new sh*t as well as old Sh*t ....stop worrying about what they are using and wonder how they are using it. A lot of cats just wantto open the box and start making beats...you have to learn to use the tools that you have at your grasp.....no matter if it's a compressor limiter, or a midi controller, or a penny flute...

I, just like Ares 12, use MPC2kXL, ASR-10 and Triton classic. I sometimes use MIDI, sometimes I don't. However I feel that day.
Most of the I feel like nothing can touch the ASR though. I got skills on all 3 though, I don't rely on any one of them actually. Yes, they all have MPC's in their rigs along with a million other toys.
