Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By quadrant6 Sun Nov 20, 2005 7:51 pm
The MPC2k MCD (blue) that I purchased over ebay arrived yesterday but it has a floppy drive. I thought all MCD versions came with a card reader but I must be wrong :(

So, is it possible to install a card reader myself for reasonably little $ or would it be better to just get a zip drive/scsi hard drive?

You got beat for your money son. MCD stands for Multi Card drive I think. But they are very easy to install. Just open up the bottom plate of your MPC, Unscrew unplug and install and close up. Takes about 15 minutes

Floppy drive installation is not that straight forward as simply replacing a drive. You gotta make a few cuts and mods as described in numerous threads.
