Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By Sebbelito Wed Nov 23, 2005 3:35 pm
I´ve got my MP hooked to my soundcard (Audio/MIDI) And I gotta MIDI-keyboard also hooked to my soundcard (MIDI).

I´ve been using the MPC as a slave to cubase with the MIDI-keyboard to playing VSTI´s. But I don´t really like to work in cubase with the MPC, i´d just like to use the MPC for all sequencing instead. But I still want to use my VSTI´s in cubase.

Is there a way to hook cubase as a slave to the MP so that I can record the VSTI´s in the MPC´s sequencer? I don´t got a real synth so I need them bass-sounds and everything.

In what way do I hook this out best?

first you need to connect the midi keyboard to the MPC via midi input 1, then you set up the midi sync in on the MPC as Midi clock (master), going out the midi
A port. you set cubase midi sync to midi clock slave. then set up the vst instrument on cubase, the tracks that have the vst's must correspond to the midi tracks on the MPC. ( the channels must be the same to trigger midi performance). you should be able to set each track to seperate midi channel and make your squence with the MPC controlling the cubase and vst instruments.

you are welcome, Remember the Shift + Midi/Sync things have to set up there and in Cubase

i made a little tutorial for this a while ago. It's for Cubase sx, and comes with a template cubase file.

Hmm...how many midicables do u need to do this? I only got one cable.
What are going IN and what are going OUT?

The MIDI IN/OUT is the one and the same port on my soundcard - Soundblaster Live. I guess this wont work.

but about that multitimbral thing. it did what you said it would do...when you goto channel two, it changes the VSTi for channel one too. cant play more then one at a time. couldnt really figure that part out in SE...guess ill keep tryin

I Know this thread is old but i want to be able to use a midi keyboard to control my vsti instead of the mpc while the mpc is recording midi and then send everything into cubase to be able to record in audio. What do i need to do different?
