drum rolls??

is there a better way to make a drum roll than using step repeat??

u mean note repeat right? you can change the note settings to 1/16 or 1/32 or whatever and that will give u a different roll. Or you can assign two snares to two pads right next to each other, record at a very slow tempo at first and hit both pads and try to make a roll that way. Then you can spead the sequence up and it will sound like a roll.

Don't use step edit to make rolls though, use the note repeat button, thats what I use.

I use the note repeat button, then i go into step edit and change up the velocity and tighten everything up in there

i take a snare sound, assign to 3 pads. the first pad i tune down about -12 and filter to around 82 with a pretty slow attack and decay, then the next one i tune to about -7, filter around 94, and speed up the attack and decay. the third one i leave pretty much alone. go back to the first pad and switch the mode to velocity switch(in parameter window). assign the untouched pad to the over 88, the medium pad to the over 44, and your most tuned down, filter snare will be the before. so what happens is the snare sound changes a little bit each time it crosses one of those thresholds(which can be changed insteead of 44 and 88 ) resulting in a more natural sounding roll. then you can use one of the other techniques like slowing it down, or note repeating or whatever to get it rolling. i sometimes take the time signature off and in step edit i invidually place each hit where i want it cuz then i can make sure those velocity switches are doing what i want them to do. try that.
